Mahmoud faced terminal cancer, little did he know new life and healing with Jesus lay right around the corner.
Our partners in North Africa are using satellite television broadcasting to reach an estimated 50 million with the life-changing message of the Gospel. After a routine medical check at the doctor, Mahmoud was given life-shattering news. He had cancer and had only a few months to live.
“I was laid off from my job with early retirement and sent home,” Mahmoud said.
Besides cancer, Mahmoud was also struggling with depression. He was completely hopeless.
After coming home one day, Mahmoud collapsed in the chair in front of the TV. Flipping through the channels he saw a show about Jesus.
“I wasn’t particularly interested, but then a man called for people to receive salvation,” Mahmoud said. “I was ready to give my life to Jesus who can heal me.”
With tears in his eyes, Mahmoud continued:
“The first time I heard about Jesus, I didn’t understand. I thought He was too far away to be real or to reach out to me. That was the moment the Holy Spirit touched my heart, and the emptiness turned into a full life. I was overflowing with joy, with peace, and with a great sense of being loved and cared for. I was lifted from a state of being dead to new life. Fear was gone, depression was no longer there. I leaped for joy and wanted to hug everyone. I wanted to shout and tell people how much I loved them. I did not know what to say, but I knew that I had been given hope and happiness like I never had before.”
Later, Mahmoud returned for treatment with his doctor, but during the examination, the physician could see no trace of cancer.
“Jesus has completely healed me!” Mahmoud said.
